Simchat Torah Cookies

Torah Cookies-2

As with many congregations, the Simchat Torah service is also Consecration.  The temple welcomes all new students to the religious school by giving them a small Torah and a blessing.

Last year was our daughter’s first year in religious school and with very little notice I was asked to sponsor the oneg.  For many this means buying the snacks, but for me this means baking.  Never one to miss out on a theme, I was lucky enough to find this Torah cookie cutter with Amazon Prime.

I like to make things as easy as possible for myself, so this meant finding a sugar cookie recipe that would be great without frosting.  I used different colored decorative sugar on the dough before baking to make them fun and this cream cheese sugar cookie recipe was perfect.
