My followers have asked for “low-energy” mishloach manot ideas, so I have created mishloach manot shopping lists. Everything can be ordered on Amazon or Target Curbside Pickup.
Mishloach manot or shalach manos are gifts of food that are giving during Purim. It is one of the four mandatory mitzvot to celebrate the holiday. The others are reading the megillah (the Purim story), having a festive meal, and giving tzedakah (to charity). We give mishloach manot to help our friends and family feel the joy of the holiday. The only rule of mishloach manot is that it needs to have at least two varieties of food and it must be ready to eat.
Creating Your Mishloach Manot
What To Put It In – I love paper bags with handles. They are inexpensive, and reusable, and your kids can decorate them. I’m happy whenever we can add a little craft to an activity.
Do They Need To Include Hamantaschen? – No. You can give out awesome gifts that do not include hamantaschen. If you want to include them and don’t have the bandwidth to bake them, I found these on Amazon as a great option.
Who Do I Give Them To? – Whoever you want. I start our list with our Jewish friends and family and then expand it to some friends who would appreciate us sharing our customs with them. Check out these printable mishloach manot tags with explanations to include in your packages.
